Somax Driver Training

About us

Somax Ltd was founded in 2003 by Simon Werkshagen following a career in the logistics sector. The business involved training drivers to be licensed to drive heavy good vehicles and passenger carrying vehicles. This evolved in 2005 with the addition of the Young Driver Training and Women into Transport scheme which was fully funded and incorporated the NVQ qualification.

Since 2008 Somax has specialised in funded training successfully linking this to the mandatory Driver CPC. In its first year Somax conducted training for 386 PCV drivers with the Passenger Carrying NVQ which brought 14 hours of Driver CPC. In 2009/10 all of these candidates were able link a further 21 hours to funded training and each driver has now completed the full 35 hours.

Since September 2009 Somax has developed partnership through the South West and is currently delivering funded training together with Driver CPC to the LGV sector having completed in its first year of 1000 candidates.

We have won Business Partner of the Year 2010 with Weston College and together will provide further funded training linked to Driver CPC, apprenticeships and other logistics based qualifications.
