Somax and Weston College Celebration of Success in Logistics night was held on Wednesday 9th November. An evening hosted by Dr Paul Phillips in the Grove restaurant with drivers from May Gurney, Smiths of Gloucester and Taylor Plant. Awards were given to Richard Murray from May Gurney 'Employer of the Year', Rachel Branch from Taylor Plant for 'Apprentice of the Year, and Bruce Howell of Smith who won 'Adult Apprentice of the Year'. Further awards were handed to Tracy Futcher, Lisa Fowler and Brian Edwards for 'Best Depot Drivers' at May Gurney.

Somax at the Bus and Coach Live 2011 Exhibition. We met so many new and existing customers and look forward to further developing our relationships. Thanks to all for giving up time to visit us. Somax together with TOR2 will be commencing Modern Apprenticeships with 90 members of staff. The training will consist of: Key Skills, Employer Rights and Responsibilities, Drivers Hours, Drivers Responsibilities, SAFED (Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving), Essential Driving Techniques. This will include 28 hours of Driver CPC. Thanks to Maurice for his support and confidence.

'Somax partner with May Gurney to deliver 300 NVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles. The program will be rolled out over six months with the drivers receiving SAFED training as well as May Gurney specific programs. Thanks to Richard Murray for his confidence and support’

Backwell based Somax Ltd honoured at National Training
Awards 2010
Backwell based driver training company Somax has been honoured with a prestigious National Training Award in recognition of their outstanding contribution and commitment to training, learning and development in the workplace.
Somax Ltd was presented with a Regional National Training Award at the South West Regional Ceremony, held at @Bristol on the 19/10/10.
Somax Ltd was recognised in the Collaboration and Partnership Award category for its outstanding achievement of 100% pass rates for over a thousand drivers achieving a full NVQ Level 2 qualification in Driving Goods Vehicles and Driving Passenger Carrying Vehicles. The partnership with Weston College has been an exceptional success.

316 people entered their details for the Truckfest prize draw for free 35 Hours of Driver CPC. The winner was Dave Corp of Parker Transport both in Shepton Mallet. A prize giving day with local press will take place the week commencing 19th July
Truckfest was a hugh success, thanks to all that manned the stand. Dave, Rich (Mint), Phil (Translova), Steve (RPM) and Craig (CH Training). Particular thanks goes to Dave for planning the stand, setting up and taking down, you did a brilliant job.

Web site redesign
Thursday 20th May saw the inauguration of the new Mayer of Weston-Super-Mare, Councillor Philip Judd. Phil is a lecturer here at Somax and will spend the next twelve months balancing his Somax role and that of the Mayor. We congratulate Phil and wish him all best for the ensuing year.

Somax has first Driver CPC inspection and receives clean bill of health
